What To Wear To A Photoshoot?
Simplicity is key!
Choose solid, neutral colors for your clothing, such as tans, light pinks, pale blues, navy blue, teals, creams, grays, or blacks. Bright colors can reflect back onto your skin!
Avoid stripes, graphic tees, letters, numbers and busy patterns, as these can be distracting and take the focus off of you!
(Plaids work well if they are larger and the other subject wears a color coordinating solid.)
Avoid wearing the same color as your partner. Contrasting colors create a more pleasing image.
The photo to the right is a perfect example of color coordination for a couple!
When photographing outdoors, it’s best not to compete with nature. Mckenzie and Tanner choose colors that were complimentary to their setting.
For engagements sessions we allow a maximum of two clothing changes and three changes for seniors. This ensures we have enough time to capture all the looks! Keep in mind we may be working in a remote location so there are may not be any restrooms to change in.
The best advice I can give you is to coordinate instead of match!
While red isn’t always the best choice, it does work in this particular setting and lighting.
Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident!
Try on your outfit before the day of the photoshoot to make sure everything fits properly. Make sure all clothing is clean, pressed and lint free.
When photographing outdoors sessions in the winter, make sure to wear shoes that keep your footies warm! Once your feet get cold - you’re done for. Scarfs, beanies and mittens are welcome too! Don’t forget to bring your cuddle buddy!
